Putin promises to mirror US sanctions

MOSCOW, Dec 19 (PRIME) – Russia will mirror the U.S. sanctions, which affect relations with the U.S., President Vladimir Putin said at an annual press conference on Thursday.

“This will doubtlessly affect the level of our international relations. We know the general approach that the U.S. will cooperate with us where it is interesting and beneficial for them and will hold Russia down with decisions of this kind,” Putin said.

“Knowing this, we will act like a mirror, that’s all. There is nothing good in this. This is absolutely unfriendly towards Russia.”

The U.S. Senate approved on Tuesday a defense budget, including spending on counteraction to Russia in various areas, including sanctions against gas pipeline Nord Stream-2 and military aid to Ukraine.
